Today I've got something mind-blowing for you, and this is a wisdom drop. This is a mic drop moment To help you get out of hesitation, frustration, overwhelm that might come with a really big, delicious goal that you want to achieve in your life. It's really important that you have this reframe in your back pocket so that you can build momentum again and stop Hesitating, because we all know, over analysis leads to paralysis and paralysis means zero shit getting done in your life. It really matters to you. So what is the mic drop moment here? It is Don't let tomorrow's goals Interfer with today's progress. Don't let tomorrow's goals Interfer with today's progress. What does that mean? Stay here in the now. So many times we think about the final end result that we want and we stay there Future tense that is one strategy to get excited and feel emotional About your goals in your dreams, which, by the way, is extremely important.

Speaker 1:

I teach a four-step framework called the fire method. F stands for the future vision. You have to get detailed about the future and you want to get emotional about it. However, you can't stay there when it comes to doing something now, because when you stay in the future, when you stay in tomorrow mindset, it actually can overwhelm you, because you're in the now, you're not physically in the future, and so there's a huge discord, there's a huge dissonance that drops in and that usually results in anxiety and frustration and overwhelm. Let me know if you've ever felt that way before. When a big ass dream drops in, it's like the first few days are the honeymoon period, I call it and you're really excited, but then after that, the reality sets in and Usually that feels like overwhelm.

Speaker 1:

So instead of lingering in the future, we have to dial it back to the now, which is actually where your physical body is, and it's actually where you can do something about your future desire. So don't let tomorrow's goal interfere with the progress of today. In other words, figure out what that one small move you can do today Toward your future desired. State what that is, get it scheduled in your calendar, because if you haven't heard this by now, I say this all the time what gets measured gets managed, what gets managed gets done, my friends. So if you want something to get accomplished, you've got to be able to Manage it, and if you want to manage something, you need to be able to measure it, and a calendar is the measurement system that's going to transform your life.

Speaker 1:

So what is the one small thing You've been hesitating on doing? Not the big thing, because the big thing is almost future. Too future, it's too big. We want to start off with the small piece of information, the small move, because here's the thing, and we often forget that once you accomplish that small thing today, don't you worry, friend, there's going to be another small thing to do tomorrow, and then, after that small thing is done, you're going to have another small thing to do the next day, and it's a never ending line of small tasks you have to do to get to that big goal. So don't underestimate the power of one small task done today. That's my point there. One small task done today is a giant step for mankind. No one small step today, but it's true, right. How many times have you underestimated the small work, the small steps I remember about gosh? It must be over 12, 15 years ago now.

Speaker 1:

I was getting ready to step on stage for my first and only natural bodybuilding show. That's right. I was in a bikini on stage with a little number pinned to my bra, my bikini bra and our bikini top, and flexing my muscles and posing in a specific way Spray tan, high heels all that and actually I did pretty well. I got second place overall for my age group. I didn't place with the younger gals at the time, but I got second for my age group, which was really awesome. But to get there, to get on stage, that was the big goal. But I didn't start in the gym with lifting 45 pound dumbbells overhead with a shoulder press. I started in the gym on day one pushing 250 pounds on the sled to get my quads to grow. I would have injured myself.

Speaker 1:

That's kind of what we're doing with our goals and our dreams when we lead them in the future state and get excited about it. We take action, thinking that the goals have to look like the future state. No, the goals have to look like day one goals, and then your day two goals need to look like day two goals and your day three goals look like day three goals, and on and on and on. Where we have to be more humble about our approach, we have to stop staying in the future. Use the future as medicine, use it as the trigger, as the initial catalyst to get excited, to remember where you're headed. Yes, but come back to the now. Be real with yourself.

Speaker 1:

Where am I actually at in relationship to my dreams and my goals? I am a beginner at the gym, but then I better have some respect for that beginner body I have. So what happened after day one, day two, day three of me at the gym? I slowly gained more muscle. I slowly was able to lift more weight. I gained skill because I had a personal coach at the time, so I was able to fix my form and actually target the muscles I wanted to build, instead of all the muscles at once. I was able to do cardio the right way, et cetera. Diet, my diet guide, dial them, and this was slowly built day upon day, upon day upon day, because the now is the only place you need to focus. The now holds all of the potential of your big ass amazing dream with the realism of this is what I can actually accomplish today, and here's why this is important. Here's why this is so important.

Speaker 1:

If you continue to take a bite of that apple and chop off more than you can chew, where are you mentally and emotionally at the end of that day? You didn't get done what you needed to get done. Okay, maybe it's not a big deal on day one, but what about day 10, day 12? Is it gonna start to wear on you? Are you gonna start to maybe doubt yourself? Heck, yeah, and that's what everyone does. I've been there before, like what's going on? I can't quite get to where I wanna go. Well, it's because I'm trying to bite off more than I can chew, and we have to take that approach with our goals too. We have to be humble, be respectful, be realistic about where you're actually starting and embrace that beginner mindset. Embrace where you are and truly learn, like a bodybuilder would Learn how to build it from the ground up. You're actually gonna to get your goals done that way and it's actually gonna feel good, you're not gonna doubt yourself. You're gonna have all of this evidence that I actually achieve what I say I'm gonna achieve, and that is the mentality that will keep you going. That's the grip, that's the moxie, that's the motivation, that's the velocity mindset that will keep you going.

Speaker 1:

And the next time another big dream drops in, you get a sole download, you're gonna close that gap between your actions when the download comes in and you actually take action. Most of us have a big ass gap there, filled with fear, and I call that the bail zone. And the bail zone is just that. It's where everyone bails on their dreams and their goals and breaks their own heart. We've gotta close that gap so you can stop tormenting yourself and we can actually get you taking action on your goals. Because, guess what? It's not just a one way straight where you desire that goal, your goal actually desires you too. You are the person that can make it happen. That's why you're getting that idea in the first place. So it's a big deal. It's really important that you understand how important that goal and idea is, because you're the one that carry it out. It has chosen you, actually.

Speaker 1:

But now we need to be realistic. We need to eat some humble pie. We need to slow down for a moment and be in the now. Take inventory of what you have around you. What are your resources? Do you need to learn a new skill? Do you need to hire a coach, like I did for my bodybuilding journey, I had to hire someone who was a professional bodybuilder in the men's division, always on stage, always competing. This man knew his shit. Numerous awards and his price tag to hire him per hour reflected that. But you wanna know what I got? Second place, maybe that's so close to first and for your first time on stage, like I'll take that all day long. So where are you neglecting to go out and get the resources and the tools needed to level up your game? That's the message you guys today Really quick, really simple, really sweet, really actionable.

Speaker 1:

I want you to think about the now. Evaluate your situation. Do you need more tools? Do you need more resources? Do you need some help? And you probably do, because if your dreams and your goals do not require someone else's help, you are not dreaming big enough. I'm gonna say that again If you do not require the assistance of other people, you're not dreaming big enough, and maybe that's not a coach. Maybe that's hey, I need my sister to watch the kids that night, because I gotta start going live on Instagram more. I gotta start talking to my people. I gotta start building my community. Maybe it's hey, honey, could you walk the dog on Tuesday and Thursday nights, because I gotta start figuring out how to actually create my own podcast here and I'm gonna take this free course and I gotta start dedicating some time. So it's not always that you're gonna hire a coach or that you're gonna join a program. You might need to ask the people around you for some help, relying on your friends and family, bringing them in on your mission so that they can start to support you. That might be the resource move you need to do in the now. The other thing I wanna remind you of is that we talked about the importance of picking a small goal, because, remember, tomorrow, another small goal, another small goal the next day, the next day, onward and onward adds up to the big ass goal they give.

It like building a Lego pirate ship, which I used to have when I was a kid. You know, I wasn't building Barbie stuff, I loved pirate stuff. I loved race cars. I was such a tomboy still am through and through. Shout out to anyone who loves Legos as a kid One piece at a time is how I built that Lego ship. I didn't put a huge chunk of the hull together and put all the little pirates on some platform that didn't exist yet. I had to build it piece by piece.

Speaker 1:

I didn't step on stage as a bodybuilder confidently From day one. I had to build my confidence, and that's the other part of it that you're gonna experience in this journey. When you start to take and allow yourself to have smaller, simplistic moves you do every day. Not only are you gonna build velocity, because you're gonna keep going, because I feel so damn good to accomplish things, but you also are gonna build something else. Right along with competency comes the other C word confidence.

Speaker 1:

And the cool thing about confidence I'm gonna leave you on this thought as to why it's important to make small moves in 2024 towards your goal, to appreciate the beginner mindset is that you're gonna build confidence, and the cool thing about confidence is like, let's say, you want confidence in dating and falling in love again, or you just want confidence in speaking up more at work, but you feel like you don't have confidence. What you don't actually have to do is start trying to get confidence in the dating area. You can actually start to get confidence over here with your craft and your hobby. In other words, you don't have to directly face the devil, you don't have to directly dance with the devil, face your demons, face your fears and get confident at that one thing. You can actually go get confident at this other thing over here, like starting to go live on Instagram. And the reason why is because confidence has allegiance. Confidence doesn't care, confidence is confidence. If you start to get it over here, learning how to be a better photographer, learning your photography skills and that builds your competency and also builds your confidence it's gonna leak over here, your confidence into other areas of your life.

Speaker 1:

I often like to give everyone this picture and analogy of confidence being a drop of food coloring into water. That confidence is one drop, it goes in and it spreads everywhere. Right, it doesn't decide which molecules to go into. No, it puts the whole color into that whole glass of water. Confidence is the same way. If you start to drip it in from anywhere, it will eventually flood your whole being. And now you are showing up more in all aspects of your life, all because you understood the power of not letting your tomorrow's goal get in the way of today's progress.

Speaker 1:

Start small. 2024, I'm calling it now is all about simplicity. That is the vibe, my friend is we wanna make it simple, we wanna dumb it down, we wanna streamline it. It starts to build progress in a very organic way and this is how you're gonna do it. Let's start to actually make you accountable today.
